• LO1: Know how software is built from components allowing reuse and sharing, and the importance of establishing provenance 
• LO2: Know the essential concepts (and jargon) of software development in order to interact effectively with inventors 
• LO3: Understand software licences, applicability and inter-dependency 
• LO4: Recognise the special eligibility rules for software patents 
• LO5: Understand when software may constitute as a medical device or diagnostic tool

This course is ideal for: 

• Professionals in Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property management, and commercialisation, particularly those in Higher Education, public sector research organisations, NHS innovation, and software development.
• It is ideal for individuals with at least three months of experience in Technology Transfer and a basic understanding of different types of intellectual property but limited experience in software commercialisation.
