In 2020 the University of Hertfordshire will be launching its new strategy, which includes refreshed objectives and targets for Enterprise & Business Development. Coupled with our recent success in securing funding to set up a new University Enterprise Zone, the University’s Business Development Department is now seeking to recruit to a range of new roles to fulfil its ambitions to drive sustainable growth and increase income across all areas of knowledge exchange. To support this expansion we have a number of new roles available across the teams.
The Business Development Department is formed of three areas of knowledge exchange activity, defined as Innovation, Skills and Business Support Services. The Innovation and Skills Teams are seeking two motivated Business Development Sales Managers to proactively create and develop business opportunities with both new and existing clients, enhancing the reputation of the University, and significantly contribute to income targets through securing contracts.
Business Development Sales Managers are expected to be knowledgeable of their Team’s offerings, with an understanding of the benefits such partnerships bring to different industries and sectors.
The Innovation Team offering includes contract research, collaborative research, knowledge transfer partnerships, consultancy, and bespoke solutions, and will importantly evolve with market demands. You will stimulate growth by developing relationships with the businesses, University’s stakeholders, enhancing the reputation of the University, and significantly contribute to income targets through securing contracts.
You will have proven experience in a business development environment, ideally within the Higher Education sector, alongside identifying, negotiating and converting sales opportunities and income generation activity. You will have sound knowledge of different sales techniques, be an excellent communicator with outstanding networking skills and the ability to build strong client relationships. You will be able to prioritise your time and workload, enjoy problem-solving and have very good IT skills.
You will be highly self-motivated, professional and collegiate in your approach and fully committed to delivering a high-quality service. Importantly, you will be demonstrably passionate about this area and proactive about meeting customers to understand and fulfil their business requirements.
You will hold an Honours degree or equivalent relevant professional qualifications.
