Consultancy Manager

Consultancy Manager to oversee university consultancy portfolio, costing & contracts, and partner relations.

About the role

As Consultancy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the University’s consultancy activities. While not directly delivering consultancy projects, you will manage the administration of the University’s consultancy portfolio, ensuring projects are successfully delivered in line with our refreshed Consultancy Procedure.

You will be the central point of contact, for all consultancy-related matters, providing a high-quality service from project scoping, costing, and setup through to completion – for academic colleagues, external partners, and professional services teams.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong financial acumen with excellent interpersonal skills. You will have:

– Proven experience in costing projects, price negotiation, and contractual support
– A high level of attention to detail and strong financial competencies
– The ability to communicate confidently with researchers, businesses, and internal stakeholders
– Experience in scoping projects and facilitating discussions with external partners to understand their needs
– A proactive approach to relationship management and identifying opportunities for further collaboration

The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research. We are ambitious and have a bold vision – shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world – which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.

We are seeking a highly proactive and detail-orientated Consultancy Manager to join our Innovation & Impact team, part of the Research, Innovation and Impact (RII) division.
