Research Services is a large team of over 140 research support professionals, working in partnership with the academic divisions and their departments and faculties to support Oxford’s researchers. Our role is to facilitate excellence in research, engagement, and innovation at Oxford. We strive to be a trusted provider of expertise, strategic insight, internal and external influence and excellent professional support to Oxford’s research, engagement, and innovation community.
The University is now seeking to appoint an exceptional leader for the new role of Director of Research Funding & Contracts. Bringing together existing teams to work together in a newly formed team (ca. 75 staff) in Research Services, the Research Funding & Contracts team will provide comprehensive research funding and contracting support to researchers and departments across our academic divisions. In 2019/20 Research Services supported the submission of over 4,000 funding applications seeking £1.7bn worth of funding, accepted new awards totalling over £670m and negotiated more than 7,300 research contracts.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience of operating at senior level and a track record of achievement and leadership in delivering outstanding research support services, research funding and research development, research contracting, and facilitating major research ventures and partnerships. You will be an exceptional leader and manager, with a deep commitment to supporting and developing colleagues to succeed.
