Research Services is a large team of over 140 research support professionals, working in partnership with the academic divisions and their departments and faculties to support Oxford’s researchers. Our role is to facilitate excellence in research, engagement, and innovation at Oxford. We strive to be a trusted provider of expertise, strategic insight, internal and external influence and excellent professional support to Oxford’s research, engagement, and innovation community.
We are now seeking to appoint an exceptional leader for the newly formed Research Strategy & Policy Unit. The Unit will bring together Research Services’ existing activities across a number of areas, including research strategy development and coordination, support for the University’s main research-related committees and governance, and the development and coordination of institution-wide research policies and strategic initiatives.
Working directly with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), as well as other research leaders in the academic divisions, the Unit will extend Oxford’s influence and engagement with the development of national and international research and innovation policy.
The University seeks an outstanding individual with substantial leadership experience in research strategy and/or policy. You will have outstanding skills in evaluation, analysis, insight and policy development with a track record of success in bringing this to bear in supporting and influencing internal and stakeholders at the most senior levels. You will be an exceptional leader and manager, with a deep commitment to supporting and developing colleagues to succeed and the ability to build both formal and informal teams and networks to work together with energy, creativity and impact.
