Head of Partnership Development, Medicine and Health Sciences

Founded as a University College in 1949 with the sponsorship of three local authorities, Keele received its Royal Charter in 1962. Around 11,000 students now study at Keele, and with over 2,000 employees, the University contributes £0.22bn a year to the regional economy. Keele’s Science and Innovation Park is a fast-growing employment site and the main centre for high value employment locally, including a long established and growing medtech and bioscience cluster.  97% of Keele’s research is rated as world leading or of international importance, and Keele is ranked in the UK Top 10 for its combined teaching and research excellence, with 90% of research in health related and bioengineering research judged world leading or internationally significant. Over the last few years Keele’s local impact has been transformed through our Keele Deals, agreed with local civic partners in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.  The University's commitment to the region through Keele Deal | Health, enables us to work across the health system to address workforce challenges, support service transformation and promote impactful open innovation, reinforcing the work of broader partnerships such as Midlands Innovation Health (which Keele currently chairs) a regional partnership coordinating and combining the collective excellence of seven Midlands Innovation universities to deliver improved health and regional growth. Driving disruptive translational interventions and influencing nationally, MI Health draws together a critical mass of innovative regional stakeholders to impact national and global health challenges using local training strengths, expertise, networks, best practice and facilities.

This exciting position plays the central role in driving these strategic initiatives forward, building Keele’s multi-sector partnerships to realise value for communities the local economy and the University.  The role is based in the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Engagement, with dual reporting to the Director of Engagement and Partnerships and the Executive Dean for Medicine and Health Sciences.  The role would suit someone with experience of developing partnerships across the health system, and with health and medtech sector businesses.

Keele University values equality and diversity across our workforce and to ensuring our staff community is reflective of the diversity of our student population. In support of these commitments the University welcomes applications from individuals of Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds for all roles.
