Project Co-ordinator – Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP): UCL Innovation & Enterprise

UCL Department / Division: UCL Innovation & Enterprise

Specific unit / Sub department: Business and Innovation Partnerships

Location of position: London

Grade: 7

Hours: Full Time

Salary (inclusive of London allowance): £36,028 – £43,533 per annum

UCL Innovation and Enterprise provides UCL’s structures for engaging with business for commercial and societal benefit. This exciting role will work in our high-growth SME business partnerships team, supporting the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme, which facilitates innovation in businesses. The KTP programme is a unique, national programme, co-funded by businesses and UK government funding bodies (usually Innovate UK), which enables a business to bring in new skills and the latest academic thinking to deliver a specific, strategic innovation project – for example, a new product or service.

There has recently been significant growth in demand for the KTP programme from academics and businesses alike and the number of KTPs has tripled in the last five years. Given the depth and breadth of UCL’s research, the potential for growth in KTPs is huge.

The post is funded until July 2022 in the first instance.

Key Requirements
The role would suit an individual who has some experience in process or project management with a keen interest in supporting UCL academics to bring their ideas to life in industry. We also expect the role holder to have experience working with businesses or collaborative working between a university and the private sector. The post-holder will be a good problem-solver who is comfortable reaching out to teams across UCL to get things done as efficiently as possible. No prior knowledge of the KTP programme is required.

The KTP Co-ordinator will be fully trained and supported by the KTP Manager to: manage our live portfolio of KTP projects with businesses and academics from across UCL, enable businesses to access the wider opportunities for collaboration with UCL, carry out activities to communicate the value of the scheme internally, through reporting mechanisms, and externally.
