About us
Established in 1885 by Professor Sir Ambrose Fleming, inventor of the thermionic valve and founder of the discipline of electronics, UCL’s Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) was the first department of electrical technology in England. Today, that same pioneering tradition of innovation and excellence continues to shape our research, education and entrepreneurial activity.
Building on long-established partnerships with industry and the support of a loyal and engaged alumni community, we continue to push the boundaries of electronic and electrical engineering, creating opportunities for collaboration that deliver meaningful impact across research, teaching and enterprise.
