Studentship in Social and Community Studies: University of Derby

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to undertake industry based research in Social and Community Studies.

The College of Health, Psychology and Social care together with the Derby Community Parent Programme has an opportunity for a Post Graduate MPhil Studentship to carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the Derby Community Parent Programme voluntary perinatal peer support service and the impact this has in the community and with the volunteers themselves. The recommendations from this 12-month study will contribute to the advancement of the service and support continued businesses development.

The studentship is a joint venture funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Derby Community Parent Programme, and the University of Derby.

Derby Community Parent Programme carefully recruits and trains volunteers to provide safe and effective peer support through pregnancy, birth and beyond. This is delivered through both 1-1 support and in community settings, such as coffee mornings, maternity areas at the local hospital and other local events. Volunteers also provide daily peer support virtually through online communities.

This is a Full Time opportunity.

The successful applicant will receive a maintenance stipend (based on the minimum stipend defined by UKRI, currently £15,609 for the academic year 2021/22) and home MPhil/PhD tuition fees only for 1 year.
