Why you will love this role:

As a Translation Associate, you will collaborate with top-tier researchers at the University of Cambridge, in particular those funded by Cancer Research UK. Your days will be spent performing crucial IP due diligence, uncovering new scientific opportunities, and securing funding to bring cutting-edge technologies to market. You'll gain invaluable insights into the intersection of academia and industry, all while contributing to life-changing advancements in cancer treatment. Plus, you’ll be part of a passionate team that values innovation, collaboration, and making a tangible impact on patients' lives.

This role not only challenges you intellectually but also rewards you with the satisfaction of knowing your work contributes to accelerating scientific progress in impactful therapeutic and diagnostic fields.

What we're looking for:

  • You will have a passion for technology transfer and a keen interest in oncology or life sciences. Here’s what you need to succeed:
  • Scientific Expertise: A degree in a relevant scientific or technical field, with a strong interest in technology transfer and intellectual property.
  • Analytical Skills: Attention to detail and methodical approach required to perform thorough prior art searches, market evaluations, and data analysis.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with researchers, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong time management and multitasking abilities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying and resolving issues, including potential conflicts of interest and negotiation challenges.
  • Customer Focus: Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility: Adaptability to new and changing requirements within a dynamic work environment.
  • IT Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office 365.

Nice to have:

  • PhD in a relevant scientific field, particularly cancer research.
  • Experience in technology transfer, patenting, or licensing processes.
  • Knowledge of the patenting process and other aspects of intellectual property management.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and management.
  • An understanding of how AI tools can enhance efficiency.

Diversity and equality matter:

These are our ideal requirements, but we know some people are less likely to apply for the role unless they are 100% qualified. At Cambridge Enterprise, we promote a diverse, inclusive and empowering culture, so please apply if you meet the majority of the job requirements.

If you have any questions about the interview process, or if you need any reasonable adjustments, please don’t hesitate to contact Ian, Gemma or Michelle at people@enterprise.cam.ac.uk
